About the project

Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water are developing a plan to build new ‘super’ water treatment works, and associated facilities, to replace three existing works which are nearing the end of their operational lives. The proposed facilities include:

  • New water treatment works facilities including enhanced water storage.
  • New raw water pipelines to carry water from existing reservoirs.
  • New treated water pipelines to carry treated water from the new water treatment works
  • New and upgraded pumping stations to boost water pressures.

ChandlerKBS has been providing project and cost management support during the early phases of the scheme including managing the enabling and ground investigation works. These works are imperative to the overall solution and will mitigate keys risks associated with the project.

In addition to the day to day management, we have been working closely with stakeholders including OFWAT to develop the commercial contract strategy. We have also assisted with the following:

  • Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Risk Register Management and Opportunities
  • Roles for the Independent Technical Advisors (ITA) and Independent Tester (IT)
  • Contract advice on specific clauses within the CAP Agreement.
  • Independent benchmarking – cost assurance to validate the costs and technical information used to develop the reference design.
