This was the first project to be jointly procured by the Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland governments and comprised 14km of high-quality dual carriageway on the strategic route between Belfast and Dublin.
The Newry to Dundalk scheme is located on the Ireland/United Kingdom/Benelux Link Road section of the Trans-European Road Network (TERN) running from Belfast to Dublin and Cork.
Other works included 5km of side road improvements, 12 road bridges including a new structure over the Belfast to Dublin rail line, 14 culverts and a pedestrian footbridge at the Ballymascanlon Roundabout.
