About the project
A proposed 10-mile (16 km) Signalling and Telecommunications duct route to replace and upgrade the existing infrastructure. Services include commercial support to the project team for option appraisals for a number of buried and surface duct solutions to determine the optimum solution. Up to 6km of the route is exposed to the sea and consideration is being made to whether the route can be moved to avoid costly sea defence measures.
At outline design stage the scope of this project was expanded to consider the impact of future proofing against retrofitting of OLE masts to align with Translink’s targets for the decarbonisation of the network.
