About the project
This project comprised comprehensive upgrades of three level crossings on Translink’s network: Meigh, Pontzpass and Lissue. The scope included permanent way renewal, UTX/UTR installations, ducting, replacement of strail units and Signalling and Telecoms upgrades.
The works were successfully completed within budget, despite some challenges around the management of cables at some locations. To aid the overall programme, ChandlerKBS advised Translink to close out a separate enabling works package and incorporate the remaining enabling works into the main contract. As the enabling works package was a NEC3 ECC Option E contract, defining the remaining works and adding them to the main NEC3 ECC Option A contract gave a greater lever of cost certainty.
